Rare self-portrait sketched by the 34th president of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower, during his presidency. One page, graphite, the portrait is dated 3-4-58. Eisenhower was an amateur painter, and often sketched during his White House years. He kept a studio on the second floor of the White House, and despite his busy schedule, painted as a pastime and means of relaxation. In 1990, the Richard Nixon Library hosted an exhibition of his work including an oil-on-canvas portrait of his wife, Mamie, as well as many landscapes and self-portraits. In near fine condition. The portrait measures 2.75 inches by 5.5 inches. A unique piece of presidential history.
