Christie wrote the final novel to feature her most memorable character, Hercule Poirot, in the early 1940s, in the midst of WWII. She had the work locked in a bank vault while she continued the series and, in 1975, authorized that the manuscript be removed and published. It was the last of her books to be published during her lifetime. The novel was adapted in 2013 starring David Suchet as Poirot. It was the final episode of the final series of Agatha Christie's Poirot, and the first of the final series to be filmed.
