Octavo, bound in full contemporary calf, red morocco spine label lettered in gilt, gilt ruling to the spine in six compartments within raised bands, folding frontispiece of hand-colored folding frontispiece plate of a foxglove plant. In very good condition with the plate in fine condition. Rebacked.

Before his time, digitalis was a widely used folk remedy, occasionally mentioned in the folk literature, but it was due to him that correct dosages were established and the action of digitalis in dropsy and on the heart became generally recognised” (Garrison-Morton).
