Voted the most popular architect in New York in 1923, Swiss architect Maurice Fatio moved to Palm Beach, Florida in 1925 where he designed some of the most recognizable Mediterranean, Georgian and contemporary homes. His houses were so well known during his lifetime that composer-lyricist Cole Porter was inspired to write in the late 1930s "I want to live on Maurice Fatio's patio…” Notable buildings in Palm Beach, Florida include Il Palmetto, Eastover, Casa Alva, the Brazilian Court Hotel, and the Society of the Four Arts Library.
