Octavo, original publisher’s full cream vellum elaborately decorated in gilt, top edge gilt with others untrimmed, pictorial endpapers, tissue-guarded frontispiece and pictorial title page, illustrated with twenty-five color illustrations by C.E. Brock. In near fine condition. A very attractive binding.

Cranford first appeared in instalments in the magazine Household Words, then was published with minor revisions as a book in 1853. The work gained widespread popularity and saw a number of dramatic treatments for the stage, the radio and television.
