The first book in Zafón's young-adult 'Niebla' series, 'The Prince of Mist' follows a young boy named Max Carver and his family as they move to a coastal town to escape the dangers of World War II. As Max, his sister Alicia and their friend Roland delve into the mysteries surrounding their new home, they uncover the terrifying story of the Prince of Mist, a sinister shadow who emerges from night to settle old scores and disappears with the mist before dawn. Although marketed as a young-adult novel, it has always been the intention of Zafón that the novel be enjoyed by "those who are young, and those who are not so young."
