Octavo, original publisher’s cloth, cartographic endpapers. Presentation copies, each volume inscribed by James Norman Hall. Mutiny on the Bounty is inscribed by James Norman Hall on the half-title page, “For Charley + Theodora with warm regards James H. Hall.” Men Against the Sea is inscribed on the second half-title page, “For Charley Codman from his friend James N. Hall. Pitcairn’s Island is inscribed on the half-title page, “For Theodora Codman with warm regards James N. Hall.” The recipients, American writers Charles R. and Theodora Larocque Codman notably owned an extensive collection of Gershwin materials now housed at University of Wisconsin Madison.
