Palm Beach, FL: The Social Index Association, January, 1928.
Early twentieth century seasonal index of residents and visitors of Palm Beach, Florida. Duodecimo, original boards. In very good condition with some rubbing to the extremities, spine, front and rear panels.
In the early 1900s, Palm Beach, Florida was a rising settlement. Standard Oil tycoon Henry Flagler had already decided to construct a hotel and extend the Florida East Coast Railway southward to West Palm Beach. With growing populations, the Social Index Association helped keep record of residents with recognized social standing in their home communities, tracking names, addresses, telephone numbers, and the names of colleges, clubs, and yachts.
