Joseph P. Lash was an American radical political activist, journalist, and writer who won the Pulitzer Prize for Biography and the National Book Award in Biography for his book 'Eleanor and Franklin.' In 1939, having been summoned to testify before a House Committee, he crossed paths with Eleanor Roosevelt, and the two became fast friends. "Now here in 'A World of Love,' is a biography-in-letters of Eleanor Roosevelt -- with Lash writing the moving narrative of continuity that places each letter in its historical perspective, explains the background of events in which it was written, and takes you behind the scenes to clarify references she made personally -- with no idea that the letters would ever be published" (Joseph Sloves, Publisher).
