First edition. Folio, original cloth. Profusely illustrated in color, most full page, one folding. Inscribed by the author on half title page, “To Miriam and Pedro Beltrain, with best thoughts and wishes, sincerely, Georgia O’Keeffe, 1977.” The recipients were the Peruvian Ambassador Pedro Beltrain and his wife Miriam Kropp. Desirable signed and inscribed.
Georgia O'Keeffe is best known for her paintings of enlarged flowers, New York skyscrapers, and New Mexico landscapes. O'Keefe has been recognized as the "Mother of American modernism". In 1962, O'Keeffe was elected to the fifty-member American Academy of Arts and Letters. In 1966, she was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and in 1977 with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor awarded to American civilians. In 1985, she was awarded the National Medal of Arts.
