Laws of the United States of America is the first publication of the Acts of Congress collated and corrected by the Office of the Secretary of State, who was Thomas Jefferson, from the original rolls. According to Evans:'The Index of fifty-six pages, or a complete digest of the Laws, was executed by an eminent law character'(Evans 23902).
