Eighteenth century English jurist, novelist, and dramatist Henry Fielding produced dozens of plays and six novels throughout his lifetime, including his best-known work: The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling. First published in 1749, The History of Tom Jones became an instant bestseller, with four editions being published in its first year alone. Fielding's other works include; The Grub Street Opera (1731), The Covent Garden Tragedy (1732), Shamela (1741), and Amelia (1751).
