First edition, early printing of Munro Leaf’s fourth children’s novel. Quarto, original boards, illustrated by the author. Presentation copy, inscribed by Munro Leaf opposite the title page, “For Dick with all best wishes and a polite bow from his friend Munro Leaf.” Leaf has added drawings of the recipient and himself in a bowing posture. In good condition, rebacked. With the recipient’s ownership signature to the pastedown and original drawings to the final leaves at the authors encouragement (the final page of text reads, “These next pages are about other manners that I have learned and the pictures are drawn by me.”
