The recipient, Charles Burns Modesitt, was a physician and businessman and one of the first settlers of Vigo County. He became an early adherent of the Church of Latter Day Saints beginning in 1838. The fragment has been framed within a patterned textile border. In near fine condition. The piece measures 13.75 inches by 11.25 inches. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box.
