Da Vinci himself considered the drawing so important, he reworked it several times over the course of his life. The text is headed "Art" at the center in liquid gold, flanked by "Revealing the Emotions and the Soul - The Head of Christ by Leonardo Da Vinci". The body of the text flanking the painting describes the image and its meaning. Framed. The entire piece measures 8.75 inches by 10.75 inches.

Folio, bound in full vellum, elaborate woodcut vignette-border title-page, illustrated with numerous in-text woodcut diagrams, and woodcut initials. Ownership inscriptions, including that of American philosopher Allan Gotthelf. Gotthelf received many honors for his work on Aristotle, including in 2004 an international conference on "Aristotle on Being, Nature, and Life", held "in celebration of his contributions to the study of classical philosophy and science." In very good condition with some dampstaining and period marginalia throughout.
