First edition, limited issue of Lawrence's semi-autobiographical account of his R.A.F. training days. Quarto, original quarter morocco, patterned endpapers, top edge gilt with others uncut. One of 2000 numbered copies, this is number 1039. Although not called for this example is signed by A.W. Lawrence on the limitation page (T.E. Lawrence's brother who edited and contributed to introductory notes to this volume). Near fine in the rare original slipcase which is in very good condition. Bookplate. Rare and desirable.

Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the title page, "To Admiral Strauss in friendship D. Ben-Gurion 12.3.66." In very good condition with some creasing throughout.

The recipient, Rolf Ueland practiced law in Minneapolis from 1923 to 1969. His sister, Brenda Ueland, was a noted journalist, editor and bookseller. With an additional Christmas postcard addressed to the recipient in the original transmittal envelope laid in. In very good condition. Books signed and inscribed by Hawks are scarce.

Hand-colored engraved map of Judea, or the Land of Israel. One page, the map shows Judea with borders in color. The hand-colored title cartouche is flanked by Moses with the Ten Commandments on the left and the Jewish prophet Aaron with his jeweled breastplate and censer on the right. In the opposite corner, another cartouche depicts two spies carrying a branch of grapes from the Valley of Eshkol. In near fine condition with loss to the top corner. The piece measures 18 inches by 14 inches. An exceptional map, suitable for framing.
