The gavel features a plaque engraved, ''Original White House Material  Removed in 1950'' with the Great Seal of the United States at center. The piece measures 10.5 inches by 3 inches with a 2 inches diameter. In fine condition.

This striking postwar portrait of Lee was captured by photographer Michael Miley of Lexington, Virginia in 1869, perhaps less than a year prior to Lee's death on October 12, 1870. It publishes for the very first time the full declaration as read out by Ben-Gurion at 4pm on Friday 14 May 1948 in the Tel-Aviv Museum (known today as Independence Hall).
