First edition of this classic work, which mainly served as the basis for the 1997 film Titanic. Octavo, original cloth, illustrated endpaper, illustrated. Association copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, “For Ralph Whitney, with many, many thanks for all your help and suggestions and holding my hand while I sweated over this book. For more formal thanks – see p. 183! Walter Lord.” The recipient, Ralph Whitney is cited by the author on page 183 “thank you” to Ralph Whitney, and the author has underlined. Near fine in a very good dust  jacket. Jacket design by Ben Feder. An exceptional association.

A Night to Remember is a work by Walter Lord that depicts the sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912. The book was hugely successful, and is still considered a definitive resource about the Titanic. Lord interviewed 63 survivors of the disaster as well as drawing on books, memoirs, and articles that they had written.
