First edition of Ashbery’s tenth published collection of poems. Oblong quarto, original glossy illustrated wrappers. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the title page, “for Albert Raman, John Ashbery.” The recipient was a well know book collector and attorney. In fine condition.
Considered the most influential poet of his time, American poet John Ashbery published more than 20 volumes of poetry and won nearly every major American award for poetry throughout his career, including a Pulitzer Prize in 1976 for his collection Self-Portrait in a Convex Mirror. Ashbery's tenth collection of poems, As We Know, reinforced his reputation in the late 1970s with the long, double-columned poem "Litany."
