Boyhood, the movie, is a narrative film spanning twelve years in the life of a fictional family. In 2002, director Richard Linklater and a small crew began filming the project with four actors (Patricia Arquette, Ellar Coltrane, Lorelei Linklater, and Ethan Hawke) in the role of a family and filmed them each year over the next dozen years. Seen through the eyes of a young boy in Texas, Boyhood unfolds as the characters - and actors - age and evolve.
