Swedish explorer and geographer Sven Hedin made four major expeditionary trips to Asia, the second from 1899 to 1902 went through the Tarim Basin, Tibet and Kashmir to Calcutta, and during his travels in 1900 and 1901 he attempted in vain to reach the city of Lhasa, which was forbidden to Europeans at the time. The present volume details Hedin's travels, research and discoveries during this Second Expedition through Central Asia with over 400 illustrations by him.
