The commentaries of the great Roman statesman, writer and General Gaius Julius Caesar, with the text in French and Latin, handsomely illustrated with folding plates of battle plans. These commentaries include the campaigns against the Gauls and Spanish in Europe, the wars in Northern Africa and the Roman civil wars. Lancelot Turpin de Crissé was himself a distinguished French military man and man of letters.
