An uncommonly early original drawing of Homer Simpson by David Silverman, and a production booklet for the classic Simpsons episode, ‘Jacques to be Wild,’ the first episode to win an Emmy for the longest-running show on television. Early pencil sketch of Homer Simpson exclaiming “Doh!” as he conducts Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra, sketch inscribed and dated by the artist, “Homer Conducts Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra – The Snare Drum is Off — 5/17/91 David Silverman.” In near fine condition with some loss to the bottom edge, likely the result of being torn out a sketchbook. The piece measures 8.25 inches by 10.63 inches. Additionally with production booklet for The Simpsons Season 1 Episode 9, ‘Jacques to be Wild,’ renamed ‘Life on the Fast Lane,’ title leaf with table of contents, illustrated with twenty-nine photocopy leaves of drawings of Homer, Marge and Bart Simpson, as well as minor characters and various objects from the episode. In near fine condition. The piece measures 8.5 inches by 14 inches. Rare.

Set in the fictional town of Springfield, the American animated sitcom The Simpsons received widespread critical acclaim throughout its first ten seasons, generally considered to be its 'Golden Age.' The episode, 'Jacques to Be Wild,' was originally slated to be titled 'Bjorn To Be Wild,' and would have featured a Swedish tennis pro with whom Marge becomes infatuated. However, Albert Brooks, who voiced Marge's passing love interest in the episode, thought it would be funnier if the character was French. In the end, Brooks voiced a French bowling instructor, and the episode's title was changed, then retitled again 'Life in the Fast Land,' a reference to the hit song by the Eagles.
