During the 1971 Apollo 14 mission, Edgar Mitchell and Commander Alan Shepard conducted two moonwalks, spending a total of approximately nine hours on the lunar surface. They collected over 90 pounds of lunar samples, conducted scientific experiments, and deployed various instruments. After retiring from NASA in 1972, Mitchell became an advocate for paranormal phenomena research, consciousness studies, and sustainable technologies, ultimately founding the Institute of Noetic Sciences, which explores the nature of consciousness and its role in human potential.
