William Howard Taft served as the 27th President of the United States (1909–1913) and as the 10th Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court (1921–1930), the only person to have held both offices. Ethics in Service contains a collection of addresses delivered by Taft before the 1914 Senior Class of the Sheffield Scientific School, Yale University, in which he discusses the ethics and ideals of the legal profession.
