First edition of this informative view of Grover Cleveland’s two terms in office. Octavo, two volumes, original cloth with gilt titles to the spine, top edge gilt, tissue-guarded frontispieces. Very good in very good dust jackets, some toning to the spines of the dust jackets with multiple small losses and closed tears. Rare and desirable.

Grover Cleveland was the 22nd and 24th President of the United States, the only individual to serve two non-consecutive terms (1885–1889 and 1893–1897). Known for his staunch commitment to classical liberalism and fiscal conservatism, Cleveland emphasized government integrity, economic reform, and opposition to expansive federal intervention. His first term focused on reducing corruption, vetoing excessive pensions, and lowering tariffs, while his second term grappled with the Panic of 1893, a severe economic depression that defined much of his presidency. Cleveland's firm stance against the Free Silver movement, favoring the gold standard, alienated portions of his Democratic base but underscored his prioritization of economic stability over political expediency.
