Andy Warhol, a leading figure in the Pop Art movement, had a close relationship with his mother, Julia Warhola, who was also an artist. Originally from Slovakia, Julia moved to the United States and greatly influenced Warhol’s artistic development, particularly through her calligraphic and illustrative skills. In 1954, she published 'Holy Cats by Andy Warhol’s Mother', a whimsical book featuring her hand-drawn illustrations of cats accompanied by religious and poetic text. The book reflects her distinctive artistic style and deep Catholic faith, themes that also permeated Warhol’s work. Their collaboration highlights the intersection of folk and commercial art in Warhol’s career, demonstrating how personal and familial influences shaped his approach to art and design.
