First edition of the gripping climax to Butler’s acclaimed Xenogenesis trilogy. Octavo, original half cloth. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the title page, “To Bill Best Wishes, Octavia E. Butler.” Fine in a fine dust jacket. Jacket design by Don Puckey. Cover illustration by Wayne Barlowe.

Imago is the final novel in the Xenogenesis trilogy, following Dawn and Adulthood Rites. Each novel was nominated for a Locust award and republished in the omnibus Lilith's Brood. Butler was the first Black woman to receive both the Nebula and Hugo awards, and the first science fiction author to be granted a MacArthur fellowship. Her work creates powerful images of black women in a genre in which and from which they have traditionally been marginalized and excluded.
