Princess Amelia was the fifteenth and last child and sixth daughter of King George III of the United Kingdom and his wife, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Amelia died of tuberculosis at the age of 27 in 1810 and her untimely death precipitated an episode of madness in the aging King, who held her in particular affection.
