Rare original Cruise of the Snark Manuscript with corrections and annotations in Jack London's hand
Jack London Hand-Corrected Manuscript.
LONDON, Jack.
Item Number: 114405
Three pages from Jack London’s first revised typed Cruise of the Snark manuscript with annotations and corrections in his hand. Three pages, the manuscript corresponds to pages 284 through 291 of the first edition. Accompanied by three black-and-white photographs with annotations in London’s hand that would become illustrations in the book. Inscribed by him “Solomon Islands Canoe,” “Men of Solomons,” and “Bush-women going to market, Malu, Malatia.” In very good condition.
London's 1911 semi-autobiographical work The Cruise of the Snark chronicles his 1907 sailing adventure across the south Pacific in his ketch the Snark. Accompanied by his wife and a small crew, London visited the Solomon Islands and Hawaii, and his first-person accounts and photographs brought new insight into these remote places at the beginning of the 20th century.
