First edition of each volume in Malone’s landmark work on Jefferson. Octavo, six volumes, original cloth, frontispiece, illustrated. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author in the year of publication on the front free endpaper of volume II, “To P.J. Federico with many thanks Dumas Malone Sept. 25, 1951.” Volume one is a review copy, with the slip laid in. Each are near fine in near fine dust jackets. First edition sets are rare, especially signed.

Published between 1948 and 1981, Malone’s Jefferson and His Time is a six-volume biography of American Founding Father Thomas Jefferson. Malone’s work on the series earned him the reputation as "the world's leading Jefferson scholar". For the fifth volume in the series, he was awarded the 1975 Pulitzer Prize for History.
