I’ve begun to feel good again. And will soon be back in the Sale Mines again (Meaning back to work.) Lucille and I are getting ready to fly out to California where there’s a big concert given in my honour. It will be good for me to fly such a long distance (it’s been long time since I have flown) after almost three years of illness. I’m O.K. now so that’s all that matters. Lucille send her best. I would be glad to get the scrapbook, will be glad to see you again soon. My regards to all. Louis Armstrong Satchmo.” In fine condition with a rusty paperclip impression to the top edge. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope signed by Armstrong in blue ink, affixed with tape to the reverse of ‘Boston Globe Jazz Festival’ stationary along with a ‘Satchmo-Slogan: (Leave It All Behind Ya) promotional card and a packet of the Armstrong-endorsed Swiss-Kriss herbal laxative.

American trumpeter, composer and vocalist Louis Armstrong was one of the most influential figures in the history of jazz. His career spanned five decades, from the 1920s to the 1960s, and he was renowned for his charismatic stage presence and voice almost as much as for his trumpet playing. Armstrong was one of the first popular African-American entertainers to "cross over"; whose skin color became secondary to his music in an America that was extremely racially divided at the time.
