Milton Friedman was an American economist and statistician who won the 1976 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. He was a leader of the Chicago School of monetary economics and is considered the founder of monetarism, which advocates for governments to control the money supply. Friedman's ideas influenced the economic policies of governments worldwide, and were instrumental in the transition from communism to capitalism in Eastern Europe.
