First edition. Octavo, original cloth. Inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, “All best wishes to a very keen golfer, E. Hawley. Never a shot that is hurried, never jab or a snatch, watching the girl who gets flurried, generally loses her match. Harry Vardon.” Light rubbing, near fine in the rare original dust jacket with some rubbing to the extremities. Housed in a custom half morocco clamshell box. The longest inscription by Vardon we have ever seen.
"In My Golfing Life Mr. Vardon reviews his golfing experiences and looks back over a career that stands out in golf history as one of the greatest" (Murdoch 818). Vardon was a member of the Great Triumvirate of the sport in his day, along with John Henry Taylor and James Braid. He went on to win The British Open Championship a record six times and also won the U.S. Open.
