Eighteenth century edition of Giovanni Boccaccio’s twenty-eighth novella from his ‘Decameron.’ Octavo, original full vellum, engraved frontispiece portrait of Boccaccio. In very good condition with light toning to the front and rear panel, rubbing to the spine.

Giovanni Boccaccio was an Italian writer, poet, correspondent of Petrarch, and an important Renaissance humanist. Often referred to as one of the "Three Crowns" of Italian literature along with Dante Alighieri and Petrarch, Boccaccio is responsible for the creation of classic works of imaginative literature such as 'The Decameron' and setting the stage of Renaissance Humanism in Italy.
