Item Number: 117815
Toronto: Anansi, 1972.
First edition, early printing of Atwood’s early collection of poetry. Octavo, original cloth, pictorial title page. Signed by Margaret Atwood on the half-title page. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket with toning to the spine.
Atwood taught at York University in Toronto from 1971 to 1972 and was a writer in residence at the University of Toronto during the 1972/1973 academic year.[21] Atwood published six collections of poetry over the course of the decade: The Journals of Susanna Moodie (1970), Procedures for Underground (1970), Power Politics (1971), You Are Happy (1974), Selected Poems 1965–1975 (1976), and Two-Headed Poems (1978). Power Politics was often dismissed as a poetic version of Women's Lib although Atwood herself rejected the notion that the Women's Movement influenced the conception of the work.
