Rare original production sketch for the 1993 Steven Spielberg film “Jurassic Park.” Hand-drawn sketch on a translucent vellum sheet by entertainment and rock music artist Michael Salisbury. It was used in the development of the logo, title, and tagline for the film. In near fine condition. The piece measures 11 inches by 7 inches.
Spielberg acquired the film rights to 'Jurassic Park' for $1.5 million before the book's publication in 1990. The dinosaurs in the movie were created using life-sized animatronic dinosaurs built by Stan Winston's team and computer-generated imagery by Industrial Light & Magic, which was groundbreaking for its time. The film won more than twenty awards, including three Academy Awards for its technical achievements in visual effects and sound design. Jurassic Park is considered a landmark in the development of computer-generated imagery and animatronic visual effects, and was followed by four commercially successful sequels, The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), Jurassic Park III (2001), Jurassic World (2015), Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), Jurassic World: Dominion (2022), with a sixth and final sequel Jurassic World: Rebirth scheduled for release in 2025.
