Black and white photograph of Queen Elizabeth taken at the Sydney Town Hall during her first Royal Tour of Australia in 1954. Signed by Queen Elizabeth on the bottom of the photograph, “Elizabeth R.” In fine condition. The photograph measures 8 inches by 5.75 inches. Matted and framed. The entire piece measures 18 by 15.75 inches. A nice presentation.

Elizabeth II has been Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand since 6 February 1952. She ascended the throne at the age of 25, upon the death of her father, King George VI, on 6 February 1952, and was proclaimed queen by her various privy and executive councils shortly afterwards. The coronation took place more than a year later on June 2, 1953 because of the tradition that holding such a festival is inappropriate during the period of mourning that follows the death of a monarch.
