Ronald Reagan Signed Photograph.
REAGAN, Ronald.
Item Number: 133164
Signed photograph of President Ronald Reagan saluting while stepping off Marine One, inscribed to Nancy Reagan’s brother on the matte, “Dear Dick- I do salute you. Warmest friendship and regards, Ron.” Official photograph of the White House. Matted and framed with the seal of the President of the United States. The entire piece measures 15 inches by 14.5 inches. From the library of Dr. Richard A. Davis, brother of First Lady Nancy Reagan. Davis had a close relationship with his sister and President Reagan. They visited the White House often during the Reagan years. Their families got together in Washington at Christmastime and for the Fourth of July. The Davises attended both presidential inaugurations. And Dr. Davis and President Reagan enjoyed a great rapport. “They were very, very close. My dad thought the world of him as a human being,” Anne Peterson, the daughter of Davis. “They just had a great friendship. My dad was serious, and the president had a great sense of humor, so it was a great match. And my dad loved his sister, so they loved the same woman in different ways.” A unique piece of American history with exceptional provenance.
Ronald Wilson Reagan served as the 40th president of the United States from 1981 to 1989 and became a highly influential voice of modern conservatism. Prior to his presidency, he was a Hollywood actor and union leader before serving as the 33rd governor of California from 1967 to 1975. When Reagan left office in 1989, he held an approval rating of 68%, matching those of Franklin D. Roosevelt, and later Bill Clinton, as the highest ratings for departing presidents in the modern era. He was the first president since Dwight D. Eisenhower to serve two full terms after the five prior presidents did not. Evaluations of his presidency among historians and the general public place him among the upper tier of American presidents.
