Rare autograph letter signed by Rudyard Kipling. Octodecimo, one page on Brown’s Hotel letterhead, the letter reads in full, “Sept. 13. 1923. Dear Lord Athlone, I should have just everything aside for the Middlesex Hospital dinner on the 2nd, were it not that on that date I must be in Scotland to meet engagements, made a year ago, in connection with my installation as Rector of St. Andrews early in the month. With very many regrets … Sincerely yours, Rudyard Kipling.” Double matted and framed with a portrait of Kipling. In fine condition. The piece measures 16.3 inches by 14 inches.
