Éric Rohmer was a French film director, screenwriter, and producer, known for his influential work in the French New Wave movement. His stories largely center around the nuances of relationships between ordinary men and women, with his 'Six Moral Tales' following a man torn between two women and his ultimate decision to remain faithful to one. Each of these tales began here in writing before their adaptation to film, bringing Rohmer international acclaim. My Night at Maud's was nominated at the Academy Awards in 1969, and Claire's Knee won the San Sebastián International Film Festival in 1971.
