Ted Williams and Carl Yastrzemski, two of the most iconic players in Boston Red Sox history, played pivotal roles in shaping the team's legacy. Williams, regarded as one of the greatest hitters of all time, maintained a career .344 batting average and was the last player to hit .400 in a season (1941). He played his entire 19-year Major League Baseball career for the Boston Red Sox, from 1939 until his retirement in 1960. He was later inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1966. Following Williams’ retirement in 1960, Yastrzemski emerged as his successor in left field, carrying on his legacy of excellence. In 1967, Yastrzemski led the Red Sox to the "Impossible Dream" season, winning the Triple Crown and earning American League MVP honors. He boasts 18 All-Star appearances, seven Gold Gloves, over 3,000 hits, and 400 home runs, making him a rare member of both clubs. He ranks second in all-time games played and third in total at-bats. Yastrzemski holds numerous Red Sox records including RBIs, runs, hits, and doubles. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989.
