First editions. Octavo, original red cloth, 2 volumes. Both volumes are signed by the economist Anna Jacobson Schwartz. Volume 1 is near fine in a very good dust jacket. Volume 2 is near fine in a good dust jacket with a chip to the top right of the front panel.

American economist Anna Schwartz's position at the National Bureau of Economic Research in New York City led her to be called by Paul Krugman, "one of the world's greatest monetary scholars" (Krugman, 2007), for which she is well-known for her collaboration project with Milton Friedman, A Monetary History of the United States, 1867-1960. In similar and successful manner, she collaborated with Walt Whitman Rostow for The Growth and Fluctuation of the British Economy 1790-1850. It is still highly regarded among economic scholars of the period.
