American poet and educator Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's best-known works include Paul Revere's Ride, The Song of Hiawatha, and Evangeline. Born in Portland Maine, Longfellow studied at Bowdoin College and his poetry became renowned for its musicality and mythological content. He became the most popular American poet of his time and also had success in Europe where he completed several tours and professorships.
