First edition. Octavo, original cloth. Inscribed and dated in the year of publication by the author on the front free endpaper, “Hon. Frank Pace Jr. with high esteem O. Morgenstern Oct. 1959.” The recipient, Frank Pace, Jr. was the 3rd United States Secretary of the Army under Harry Truman and a business executive, who in 1964, Pace joined David Rockefeller to launch the International Executive Service Corps, which was established to help bring about prosperity and stability in developing nations through the growth of private enterprise. Fine in a near fine dust jacket with light shelfwear. Books signed by Morgenstern are rare.
Oskar Morgenstern was a German-born economist. In collaboration with mathematician John von Neumann, he founded the mathematical field of game theory and its application to economics.
