Rare graphite artist’s sketch of American director and comedian Wood Allen. Signed by Woody Allen in the upper left corner of the sketch. Additionally signed by the artist, P.B. Socci. Active in the mid 1970s, American artist Pat B. Socci gained a reputation for seeking out Hollywood icons to sign his sketched portraits. The drawing measures 8.75 inches by 11.5 inches. A unique example.
American director, writer, and comedian Woody Allen's career spans more than six decades; he has produced over 60 films throughout his career and has won four Academy Awards. Allen's early work included a number of slapstick comedies (Bananas, 1971) which later evolved into comedies and dramas influenced by European art cinema (Manhattan, 1979). Some of his more popular recent films include Match Point (2005) starring Scarlett Johansson, Midnight in Paris (2011) starring Owen Wilson, and Wonder Wheel (2017) starring Jim Belushi, Kate Winslet, and Justin Timberlake.
