Rare original Signal Corps photographs from the First World War. Over one hundred warfare photographs including: troops, destruction, invasion, tanks, and casualties. In fine condition with slight curling. The images measure 6.5 inches by 8.75 inches. Housed in the original box with paper labels “Open only in photographic dark room; Sensitized Paper; Manufactured by Eastman Kodak Company; Rochester, N. Y., U. S. A.”

The First World War, also referred to as The Great War, was one of the deadliest conflicts in history resulting in an estimated 9 million military dead and 23 million wounded, plus up to 8 million civilian deaths from causes including genocide. Fighting took place mainly in Europe and the Middle East, as well as in parts of Africa and the Asia-Pacific between two coalitions: the Allies (or Entente) and the Central Powers. The war is often characterized by its use of trench warfare, artillery, machine guns, and chemical weapons, which were since banned for wartime use by 132 nations in the Geneva Protocol.
