First edition, first printing of this collection of three of Seuss’s most memorable tales with the 1950, 1951 and 1958 copyright dates. In a first issue dust jacket with thumbnails of fourteen previously published Seuss books ending in How the Grinch Stole Christmas! on the rear panel of the dust jacket and the 295/295 price. Quarto, original pictorial boards, pictorial endpapers, illustrated. Near fine in a very good dust jacket.
Random House states on the front flap to the book's dust jacket: "Thousands of people who read these three great Dr. Seuss fables in Redbook Magazine have written and begged us to print them in book form. So here they are." In addition to Yertle the Turtle (the story of how the King Turtle built his throne of 5,607 stacked turtles), the book contains Gertrude McFuzz and The Big Brag.
