First edition, first printing of this collection of three of Seuss’s most memorable tales with @Copyright 1950, 1951, 1958 by Dr. Seuss to the copyright page. Quarto, original boards, pictorial endpapers, illustrated. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author opposite the title page, “For Blair Sanchez With Best Wishes – Dr. Seuss.” The recipient, Blair Sanchez was a neighbor of Dr. Seuss in La Jolla, California. Near fine in a very good price-clipped dust jacket. Rare and desirable signed and inscribed and with noted provenance.
Random House states on the front flap to the book's dust jacket: "Thousands of people who read these three great Dr. Seuss fables in Redbook Magazine have written and begged us to print them in book form. So here they are." In addition to Yertle the Turtle (the story of how the King Turtle built his throne of 5,607 stacked turtles), the book contains Gertrude McFuzz and The Big Brag.
