Octavo, profusely illustrated with photographs taken c. 1914-1915 of the business district, boulevards, markets, railways, farms, orange groves, beaches, marinas, streams, and homes of Fort Lauderale. Map of Florida on the final page. In near fine condition. Scarce, OCLC/WorldCat locates only one other example housed in the Alachua County Library which lists the publication date as 1915, the year Fort Lauderdale was designated the county seat of the newly formed Broward County.

Patinated bronze cast of Abraham Lincoln by George Bissell, one of only three commissioned by Ralph Newman for THE USS AL. Boldly signed by the artist in the back Geo. E. Bissell Sc. George Bissell was an important American sculptor working in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He produced two full length statues of Lincoln: one in Edinburgh and one in Clermont, Iowa. According to the letter from Lincoln College Curator Paul Beaver, the present item is one of three copies made from the school's original Bissell bronze bust of Lincoln by the Van Dyke Galleries of Chicago…

This is one of a series of popular desktop busts of Lincoln produced by the Gorham foundry in the early part of the 20th century. In fine condition. The piece measures 18 inches in height. An exceptional piece of American history.

Beautifully illustrated facsimile map attributed to Sieur Albarel in 1695. One page, the map shows regions of North America attributed as La Louisane, Florida, Nova Anglia, Noveau Mexique, and Canada with views of Quebec, New York and Niagara Falls, and a scene of whale hunting. 'The Albarel Map' was likely produced in the early 20th century [c. 1930] and may have been sold as a copy of an authentic map produced in 1695. In near fine condition. An attractive piece.

Rare nineteenth century oil painting after John Gadsby Chapman (New York/Italy, 1808-1889) depicting the birthplace of President George Washington in Westmoreland County, Virginia. Oil on canvas, the painting depicts the inlet of the Potomac River which divides the site of the Washington family home at Pope's Creek Plantation in the foreground from the Maryland shore and farmyard visible in the distance. A stone marker in the extreme foreground reads: "Here on the 22 February AD 1732 Geo Washington was Born." Copper engraved, hand-colored map of one of the most decorative maps of the Holy Land of the 17th century. One page with hand-colored borders, the map depicts the tribes of Israel and the route the Israelites took from Egypt through Sinai into Canaan. In the sea there are three sea monsters, one of which has targeted a fishing vessel. The title cartouche is guarded by two dogs, draped with fruit, and flanked by Moses inscribing the ten commandments and a Jewish high priest. In fine condition. Double matted and framed.
